1. View in Chrome fails: content.js:183 Failed to execute 'replaceState' on 'History': 2 arguments required, but only 1 present.

RECAP is throwing a javascript error which makes it impossible to view paid documents. This is with Chrome 44.0.2358.0 canary (64-bit) on MacOS 10.10.2 (Yosemite), i.e. latest stuff. RECAP recently stopped working and no changes to my Chrome environment other than auto updates from Google.

If I click on a docket entry for a paid view of the document, I get the "Transaction Receipt" screen advising of the charges. If I then click "View Document", the document is not downloaded. Instead, the console log shows the javascript error:

content.js:183 Uncaught TypeError: Failed to execute 'replaceState' on 'History': 2 arguments required,…

• history

It would be great if you could see a history of the dockets you've accessed in the past (30 days) so that you can easily go back to them when needed.

• Not sure if RECAP is working, first time user

I'm trying to use http://www.plainsite.org/asymptote/ and the links it gives me are to, say, https://ecf.azd.uscourts.gov/doc1/0250233458

When I click to download that, I just get the file. It's not clear that RECAP did anything or what I should do to enable RECAP.

Thanks!

• Provide Sample Perl WWW::Mechanize::Firefox code

Provide a resource for those who are (or want to be) heavy PACER downloaders via Perl scripting and Firefox.

Now is a particularly opportune time, since PACER effectively requires script users to use Firefox to get past the new (as of 2014) login page.

If you make it easy for heavy/script users (like me) to login using Firefox, and to keep using Mechanize::Firefox to do their searching and downloading, then all that data will be cloned to you.

Today, I download thousands of case records and hundreds of summary pages every day, but it is entirely in Perl ans so…

• Allow users to search by "Party Name" like on PACER.

Currently the system allows you to search by Court, Docket number, Case name, Pacer case number, Date filed, Date terminated, Date last filing. The only thing that is missing is a field that allows you to search by "Party Name" like on PACER.

• Add Advanced Search support for appeals courts in on RECAP website

The RECAP extension can now upload Appeals Courts documents to the Internet Archive, but the Advanced Search on the RECAP website doesn't list these Appeals Courts in the dropdown list of courts (for limiting a search to a particular court).

• Build a crawler version for people who do not inherently access PACER..

In the same manner as other distributed scientific projects such as ProteinFolding, provide a means for people to utilize their <$15 quota in an organized manner to systematically mine the legal datset and to post it to the open repository ... thought stimulated by http://boingboing.net/2015/01/11/yo.html

• If recap is dead, please just say so!!!

I can't believe how much money RECAP has received and done absolutely NOTHING!!!!

It's a disgrace, nothing works, it's more than worthless as I've now wasted many hours that I should have used to work on my filings due next week.

Who are you people?

What happened with the money?

I'd like to see some accounting, PLEASE!

• Update the extension for Firefox 34.0.5?

I lost most of my extensions when I upgraded Firefox. I removed the disabled recap extension and just tried to reinstall it, but got this error:

"The add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection at www.recapthelaw.com"

Got that error AFTER it downloaded.

BUG: Recap of documents I downloaded is NOT there.
This is for SDNY but also for 2nd Circuit. Also, the docket reports which I generated are not listed as being saved in Recap.

• post a "How To Use Recap" page prominently on the website.

I just stumbled onto Recap when trying to find court documents on a company that went into bankruptcy. I am not an attorney. When I saw the ominous warnings about proceeding via Pacer, I backed off and somehow, somewhere was presented with Recap. Recap looks like an elegant solution to the problem of access to public records. After downloading and adding to Chrome, I returned to the document confident that I would now be able to get it. Unfortunately, I got only the same ominous Pacer warning. Clearly something is missing and I think it's a "Recap For Dummies" page…

• Recap isn't working 11/6/14

When I go to a court's docket, the recap docket doesn't appear. When I go to a case I know has many recapped docs, none of the links appear. What's up? Is Recap down?

• allow firms to form teams (think SETI) and track statistics for most prolific contributors

If there were leaderboards showing which firms are contributing the most documents, it might improve adoption. Firms might implement policies requiring paralegals to use RECAP in order to win accolades and exposure.

This could be implemented as an optional setting in the RECAP plugin, and/or you could provide URLs that customize the plugin on download.

• E-Govermnent Act of 2002, a constitutional matter.

I agree that the judiciary is exceeding it's fee raising authority under the E-Government Act of 2002. However, that complaint misses a larger, more important problem: the E-Government Act of 2002 -- at least the part that permits the judiciary to charge fees -- is an unconstitutional delegation of Congress's taxing and revenue raising power to the judiciary.

The reason the Framers put the legal ability to raise revenue in the House is to ensure that the people had the power to reach the unelected parts of the federal government. If an unelected branch of government (like the federal courts)…

• Integrate with PacerPro

RECAP should be able to integrate with PacerPro so that you don't have to choose between using one service or the other, but rather can use both services at the same time.

• Not seeing the Blue R in PACER to show that a document is online

I watched the video on the RECAP homepage and I viewed the same docket in Chrome and Firefox and I do not see the blue R icon that indicates that the documents are available in RECAP. I confirmed that they are in the database, but I never get the icon or the screen saying that they're being downloaded from RECAP. I confirmed that my RECAP is turned on and it should be the most recent version as I updated it last week. The case is MA Northern District 1:03cv11658 Zipwall.

• Recap stopped working with Tor Browser bundle 3.5.3.

I've been using the Tor Browser bundle for years now with Recap without any problems. But with the latest version of the bundle, 3.5.3, it stopped working.

I can see it trying to upload pdfs, in that my CPU races to 100%. But no joy. (Can't get docket archives either.) Maybe the Tor people tightened up NoScript? I will try "temporarily allow all" next time I'm on PACER and will report back. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions . . .
